Egypt’s New Administrative Capital (NAC) witnessed significant developments in December 2024, most notably being named the Arab Capital for Intellectual Property for 2024. This recognition highlights its position as a regional hub for innovation and sustainable development.
The announcement was made during the celebration of Arab Intellectual Property Day. Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, received the Intellectual Property certificate and the award for Arab Capital for Intellectual Property 2024.
Dr. Osama Al-Baytar, Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Intellectual Property Rights, stated that this recognition reflects the NAC’s role as a modern planning model and a living example of an Arab country embracing innovation and supporting sustainable development.
Additionally, the NAC is preparing to launch infrastructure works for its second phase in early 2025, focusing on enhancing smart technology and infrastructure.
Eng. Khaled Abbas highlighted that this phase will contribute to achieving the city's vision as a green, sustainable, and smart city. He emphasized the use of advanced technology, renewable energy, and water treatment systems in the NAC's development.
Since 2016, the NAC has transformed from a desert area into a fully integrated city, hosting governmental, residential, and investment districts, as well as international universities and schools. This transformation has made it an attractive destination for living and working.
These developments mark an important step in enhancing the NAC’s position as a regional hub for innovation, technology, and sustainable development in Egypt and the Arab region.
It’s worth noting that ARQA Development Group was one of the first developers in the NAC, with its iconic project, I Business Park, located in the heart of the New Tahrir Square. The group’s management has believed from day one that the NAC represents the future of investment in Egypt and the Arab world.
